Guilty Prayers

Like a lot of kids, I grew up going to church every Sunday and making bookmarks at Vacation Bible School during the summer. I also prayed a lot, but I wasn’t always the most sophisticated prayer.

I’m still praying for selfish things, only I’ve grown up to things like, “Please let me win the lottery, and if I don’t win the lottery, please help me to get a really big raise. I promise to give a big portion to charity if I do.” Because, you know, God will totally bargain with you if you make the deal sweet enough.

Why, you haven’t changed a bit! What’s your secret? 😉

I think your prayers were sweet. After all, how many football games begin with “Please let US win!”, with no mention of starving children. Very sweet.
