Everybody has some natural talent. Some people are talented in athletics. Some people can hold their breath for a really long time. And some people can make a really fabulous poached egg.
My talent is unrelenting paranoia.
This isn’t really a talent that comes in handy very often. It mostly just gets in the way of making any kind of decision, but occasionally, it comes in handy.
Sometimes, it’s the only way to get some proper sleep.

Loved it 😉 This is exactly what I do :):P

Hah! Like you I suffer from this paranoia. I can make up entire horror movies when I’m alone in the dark. Such a talent to have… 😉

I know, whenever I see scary movies, I think, I come up with stuff better than this all the time!

I would never be able to sleep with all that going through my mind. I would be up walking around with some kind of weapon (probably a shoe) in my hand.

It’s hard to sleep with all those voices in my head.

Almost every time a murderer is about to [slash my throat, strangle me, smother me, shoot me], I decide if I lay still enough he’ll think I’m [not there, already dead, so sound asleep he won’t get caught stealing the TV]. Oddly, that’s usually about when I fall asleep.

have a dead bolt on the bedroom door – it wont stop an intruder but at least it’ll slow them down so you can push the dresser against the door and call the cops

This happens to me when I procrastinate. I know I need to work, but I think “Come on, reading is so much fun” and my brain and my desires war like this. Procrastination comes naturally, like breathing. I can’t not procrastinate. Also, when I wake up in the middle of the night really thirsty, and I have to walk the balcony of darkness to get to the bathroom and its water-providing faucet, I hesitate for long minutes pondering the pros and cons of facing The Dark to get a drink.
😉 Eventually, I go back to sleep.

I could list any number of statistics that would freak you out, but where would the fun be in that? I could just let you IMAGINE all the scary statistics I know! Bwaa haaa.

I do this all the time! Then I think about making it into a book and decide I better not because then I will just end up making myself even more scared! Of course I do love scary movies though….
